A couple of weekends ago, Troop 77 took a trip to Hells Canyon. We camped two nights and went on a seven mile canoe trip through the canyon. It's a beautiful place to spend the weekend and the scouts had an amazing time. They were also called upon to render aid to someone who found himself in a life threatening situation.
The Idaho Statesman has a nice article you can read. We are incredibly proud of how our troop was able to handle this situation and grateful for the opportunity to help Mr. Valentine in his time of need.

Why does nobody like playing FPS games with Boy Scouts?
Because they're good at camping.
DILLON: What did the quarterback say to the Scout?
MIKE: What?
DILLON: “Hike!”
Troop 77 is an all volunteer organization. There are no paid positions in our troop. All of the numerous hours of work which go into providing our scouts with an incredible program each week are provided by our hard working and generous volunteers.
We need your help! There are always opportunities to volunteer for the troop. We have big jobs with official titles and we have little jobs which just need someone to help out with one time. If you don't help then someone else ends up doing two or three jobs to make up for it.
Please take a moment to look at our list of volunteer opportunities. When you find something that speaks to you, speak to us and let us know that you can do that! The complete list of volunteer opportunities is large and we're working on getting it all compiled, but here are just a few of the things with which we could really use your help. If you don't find something below, but feel inspired to help, please reach out to troop077webmaster@gmail.com and we'll help you find your calling in the troop.
Scouts, every one of you can tell me, without thinking, what the two words on the Second Class pin are. That’s right, “Be prepared.”
There is a story of a Scout in Oklahoma. His younger sister went too near a gas heater and instantly her clothes were in flames. The father and his 13-yearold Scout-trained son rushed up the stairs to try to help. Remembering his first-aid work, the Scout knew what to do and he did it immediately. He grabbed a small rug and rolled the screaming child in it. He had been prepared.
In a moment he had smothered the flames and prevented serious injury to the child.
“Thank God my son is a Scout,” the boy’s father told the Scoutmaster. “He knew what to do while I stood confused.”
That’s what it means to be prepared.
Once someone asked Baden-Powell, “Be prepared—for what?” “Why, for any old thing!” he replied.
